Soddy Daisy and Station Camp Headed to AA

TSSAA's 2027-2029 Classifications Shake Up Class A and AA

TSSAA released its school classifications for the 2027-2029 cycle this week, and the biggest wrestling news involves two of the state's premier Class A programs. Soddy Daisy and Station Camp are both moving up from Class A to Class AA.

The move doesn't happen this season. Both programs will finish the 2026-27 season in Class A, and the new classifications start with the 2027-28 season and will run through the 2029-2030 Season.

The Numbers

Under the new cycle, Soddy Daisy comes in at an enrollment of 1,126 and Station Camp at 1,152. Division I wrestling is split evenly into two classes, Class A and Class AA, with the Class A cutoff at an enrollment of 1,047. Both schools now fall above that line, moving them to the Class AA side.

Two Programs at the Top

Soddy Daisy has been an absolute powerhouse in Class A, winning the last three team state titles. Station Camp has stayed in the mix too, finishing 3rd, 4th and 6th over the last three seasons.

Looking Ahead

Class A loses its three-time defending champion and another top-six program. That opens the door at the top for the rest of the field. Class AA picks up two solid programs, which makes it even deeper starting in 2027-28. This season stays the same, though. Soddy Daisy still gets a shot at a fourth straight Class A title before the switch, and Station Camp gets one more run at the podium.
